In October 2016 the Blog GlobalMiddelClasses.wordpress.com went online. This blog aims at establishing an interdisciplinary and transregional dialogue between researchers engaged in descriptions of the middle classes and pointing out how they dealt with the epistemological challenge of applying a concept devised in the global North to countries of the global South. This shall allow for a better understanding of how to establish research methods in global studies and address social processes whose analysis will be crucial for a better understanding of our globalized world.

Alle Mitglieder TP 3: Seminar: „Mittelschichten in Afrika“ für Studierende der Ethnologie und Entwicklungssoziologie. Diskussion der Literatur zu sozialer Differenzierung v.a. im Hinblick auf Afrika. Aus einer interdisziplinären Perspektive ging dieses Seminar der Frage nach, was Mittelschichten sind und ob es Sinn macht, den Begriff Mittelschicht auch in Afrika zu verwenden.
