Personal information: Grisha Coleman is a New York City native and has worked as a composer, performer and choreographer. She holds an M.F.A. in Composition and Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts. After completing a research fellowship at the STUDIO for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University, she joined the School of Arts, Media and Engineering [AME] and the School of Dance as assistant professor of movement, computation and digital media at Arizona State University. Her recent art and scholarly work is a springboard for re-imagining the environment, environmental change, and environmental justice. Her work has been presented and supported nationally and internationally, and been supported by numerous grants and awards including a National Endowment For the Arts in Media Grant, The Rockefeller Multi-Arts Project Grant, Stanford University Mohr Visiting Artist fellowship and the Bellagio Center Residency Programs.
