Annika Witte is a social anthropologist and works as a postdoctoral researcher on economic and political issues in Africa (mainly Uganda, Cameroon and Benin). Her doctoral project "An Uncertain Future: Anticipating Oil in Uganda" was concerned with processes of social transformation and the anticipation of change around the discovery and planned extraction of oil in Uganda. Currently, she works as postdoctoral researcher in the project "UrbanFoodPlus" under the lead of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Schareika. In this project she looks at urban and peri-urban agriculture and its role for food security in Bamenda, Cameroon. Her general research interests include future, uncertainty, risk as well as resources and energy, state and police.



At the Academy, she took part in the workshop "Waiting in Africa" of the postdoc working group "Waiting for Futures".
