Personal information: Deborah Nyangulu is from Malawi and is currently a final year PhD student and lecturer at the Chair of English, Postcolonial & Media Studies. She holds a BA in Humanities from the University of Malawi and an MA in National and Transnational Studies from the University of Münster.
Her PhD research explores literary representations of the figure of the Big Man in novels from sub-Saharan Africa (Working Title:  Big-man Aesthetics: Reading Character and Power in Contemporary African Novels). In addition to contemporary African literature, Deborah’s research interests are also in the areas of critical and literary theory.
A recipient of the WWU PhD Scholarship financed by the Sybille-Hahne Foundation; Deborah was in 2015 also a visiting  fellow  at the Bayreuth Academy of Advanced African Studies. A list of some of her publications can be found here (https://www.uni-muenster.de/forschungaz/person/17119?lang=en).
